Anita Klein

Anita Klein is a British painter and printmaker. Born in Sydney, Australia, she moved to England at the age of 11 and later studied at Chelsea School of Art and the Slade School of Art, where she was awarded the Henrique Scholarship in 1982 and 1983. While at the Slade, Klein was mentored by Portuguese Artist Paula Rego. Although unfashionable at the time, Rego encouraged her to draw what she wanted to draw. Klein’s work explores and celebrates the female experience of family, depicting intimate, humorous and sensitive scenes of motherhood and domesticity that are both comforting and familiar.

Klein’s 2023 screen printed editions, printed and published by Atelier JI, include 10 hand-finished monoprints produced at studio sessions in collaboration with our Master Printmaker.
