About Us

Atelier JI is an artists’ workshop and publisher of fine-art limited edition prints and multiples. Established in 2013 by Master Printmaker Peter Bennett, in South East London, the workshop is staffed with a small but dedicated team of highly skilled craftsmen who specialise in silkscreen, intaglio, relief printing, digital printmaking and hybrid multiples.

Our primary focus is on innovative and technically challenging large format printmaking. Atelier JI collaborates with artists, galleries, and publishers to produce contemporary art in print.

We provide a full consultation and production service from platemaking to proofing, printing to finishing. Projects range from unique impressions to limited editions, portfolios and/or box sets.

Recent projects include work by Damien Hirst, Sir Frank Bowling, Mona Hatoum, Sir Michael Craig-Martin, Piers Secunda, Idris Khan OBE, Loie Hollowell and Ian Davenport. For more information on what we offer, click here.

Our Studios

Atelier JI is comprised of three print studios in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, run by our dedicated team of printmakers and craftsmen.

Our primary studio is responsible for the bulk of our screen printed editions using Kippax semi-automatic beds, with a supplementary studio used exclusively for hand-pulled screenprints. Our newest location at the Charlton riverside houses our Epson digital printing suite, relief and etching presses.

Our independent publishing program gives invited artists the opportunity to work directly with the process alongside the Master Printers to create commissioned publications, exclusive to Atelier JI.

Our Master Printer

Master Printer, Peter Bennett has dedicated his life to the business of printing the fine art works of some of the UK's most famous contemporary artists. Taking the academic route to become the printmaker he is today, Peter grew up in Limehouse, in the East End of London before relocating to study Fine Art Printmaking at University. He then returned to the capital to further his education with a Masters Degree in the same at Camberwell College of Arts. It was then that Peter found work at London’s K2 Screen, Thumbprint Editions, Lazarides Editions and then in 2013 established his own workshop Atelier JI.

“Peter Bennett is a craftsman to the core. He couldn’t fit the mould of the artisanal, artistic printmaker better if he tried. Collected and softly spoken throughout our conversation, with an ink-stained tracksuit top and heavy work boots, he seems steeped in the steady, methodical – and undoubtedly hugely rewarding – process of printing artworks for some of the country’s best-known artists.”
