Monoprint / Monotype
Monoprint and monotype printmaking is perfect for artists wanting to make unique, single print impressions with a spontaneous, painterly quality. Our studio provides a perfect environment for artists to create one-of-a-kind prints.
One-to-one sessions are available in full or half days and we encourage artists to book these experimental sessions at our studios to create these unique editions.

An impression is printed from a re-printable block, such as an etched plate or woodblock, but in such a way that only one of its kind exists. For example, by incorporating unique hand-colouring or collage.
Prints are created with elements that change from one impression to the next, or to prints that are painted or otherwise reworked by hand either before or after printing.
The beauty of monoprinting lies in its spontaneity and its allowance for combinations of printmaking, painting and drawing.

A unique image printed from a polished plate, such as glass or metal, which has been painted with ink.
The image is transferred from the plate onto a sheet of paper by pressing the two together, usually using a printing-press.
Mono-types can also be created by inking a surface and removing ink to create areas of light from a solid area of opaque colour.
