James Hunter

Orangeola (detail), 2016, Published by Eyestorm

James Hunter (b. Preston, 1987) graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2009 having studied painting and performance on the Contemporary Art Course. He worked for three years in Stroud and London as a fabricator for the renowned British artist Damien Hirst, giving him an informative insight into the Art world. Hunter describes his work as an ‘honest and playful journey’. Each mark plays off the next mark until they reach a kind of off-kilter, and beautiful, harmony.

Atelier JI collaborated with Eyestom in 2016 to produce the 11-colour screenprinted edition ‘Orangeola’, which hinted the conclusion of the first part of his career; a period up until 2016 where he formed his abstract approach and distinct style.
