'Remains', 2018 (detail), Published by Atelier JI
Lucy McLauchlan makes site-responsive, large-scale paintings & prints. Drawing inspiration from her immediate environment she allows it to inform and direct what is an intuitive and explorative process. Implicit within her work is a deep respect for nature as she draws inspiration from her immediate environment; allowing it to inform and direct what is an intuitive and explorative process.
Atelier JI was delighted to collaborate with McLauchlan during a live printmaking demonstration at the 2018 Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair to produce the limited-edition screen print ‘Remains’.
“Remains references the faded abstractions of colour and texture found on walls before I climb up a ladder armed with my brushes and paint. Within my murals I leave these sections to reveal the wall's past history, intending only to add to it’s story.”
