Michael Craig Martin: An Anthology

Works from our 2022 collaboration with Michael Craig-Martin are featured in his latest solo exhibition at Cristea Roberts Gallery.

Michael Craig-Martin: An Anthology debuted on October 5th at Cristea Roberts Gallery. The exhibition celebrates thirty years of Craig-Martin’s editions and marks the publication of the first catalogue raisonné featuring his entire work in prints and multiples.

Among the works featured in the exhibition are ‘Caravaggio (blue)’, 2022 and ‘Seurat (orange)’, 2022, the artist’s reinterpretations of Old Master paintings our studio produced for ‘Past Present’, his previous solo exhibition at Cristea Roberts Gallery. Our collaboration saw Craig-Martin’s first experiments with creating artwork in colourways, which produced the ‘Da Vinci’, ‘Caravaggio’, ‘Saenredam’, and ‘Seurat’ sets. Each maintained a unique palette which Craig-Martin rearranged to produce three variants.

That’s why the sets sit nicely together. The prints speak to each other because they use the same colour palettes.

Three other prints we produced with Craig-Martin in 2022, ‘Holbein’, ‘Velazquez’, and ‘Piero’ are also exhibited in ‘An Anthology’. Click here to read more about our collaboration.

Michael Craig-Martin will join art broadcaster and writer, Ben Luke to discuss the artist's new exhibition and the significance of printmaking and multiples for Craig-Martin’s depictions of our time on Thursday 21 November. Please contact events@cristearoberts.com to book your free space.
